Cooktop or hob?
Choose for the way you cook.

A kitchen upgrade starts with everyday needs: your budget, the look you want and the installation your counter can accommodate.

Watch Sourabh’s comparison, then use the questions below to prepare your own shortlist.

Freestanding cooktop

Compare the appliance footprint and the space around it.

Built-in hob

Check the exact installation drawing before planning a cut-out.

Compare more than the appearance

01

Your total budget

Compare the current appliance price with installation, counter work and any required accessories. Ask for the total cost for each shortlisted model.

02

Your kitchen finish

Look at how the appliance sits with your counter, cabinets and cooking area. Include cleaning access and the utensils you use every day in the discussion.

03

Your installation

Take the selected model’s installation drawing to your kitchen designer and installer. Confirm dimensions, connections, ventilation and service access before work begins.

Bring these questions to your shortlist

  • Will your usual pans and cookware work together on the burner arrangement?
  • What counter space, cut-out and installation provisions does this exact model require?
  • Which gas type and ignition arrangement is the model supplied for, and what must the authorised installer confirm?
  • How will you clean the surface, supports and surrounding counter?
  • Who provides installation and after-sales service in your location?
  • What are the current warranty terms and the full installed cost?

Use manufacturer documentation for the selected appliance. For example, Faber’s catalogue page lists cooktops and built-in hobs separately. Category names alone do not establish a model’s installation requirements.

Common questions

Does one option always cost less?

Compare current quotes for the models you are considering, including installation and any counter work. A category label is not a complete budget.

Can I decide from the look alone?

Use the appearance as one part of the decision. Bring cookware dimensions, your cooking routine and the product’s installation information into the same review.
